The Vidyaranyapura police have registered an FIR against a man for allegedly pasting unauthorised posters featuring Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on public walls and roads in the city.

The case was registered following a complaint by Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Assistant Executive Engineer Govindappa Bajanthri, 53, of the Vidyaranyapura Sub-Divisional Office.

According to the complaint, civic officials found posters pasted on public walls and roads in Ward 10, Vidyaranyapura, during an inspection conducted between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Such unauthorised posters disfigure public spaces and require corporation personnel to undertake removal drives, the complainant said.

Minister Krishna Byre Gowda confirmed that the police had registered a case under the Karnataka Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1981, after posters carrying his image were found displayed without permission.

The police have booked Shivakumar under Sections 3 and 6 of the Karnataka Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1981.

In a similar complaint, the Kodigehalli police have registered another FIR against Shivakumar and others for allegedly erecting unauthorised advertising structures at the Railway Underpass in Sahakara Nagar without obtaining the required permission. According to the complaint filed by Varun, Assistant Executive Engineer, Jakkur Sub-Division, the unauthorised structures were noticed during an inspection conducted at the underpass on August 14.
