BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday reiterated the party’s demand for a White Paper explaining why farmers’ lands were included in the 22-A prohibited properties list and called for a judicial inquiry into the alleged irregularities and beneficiaries behind the controversy.

Addressing a protest by farmers at Siddipet along with Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao in front of the Revenue Divisional Officer’s office, Mr. Rao alleged that the Congress government had failed to safeguard farmers’ interests and that many landowners were facing severe hardship because of the inclusion of their lands in the 22-A list.

Accusing the government of creating confusion over land ownership, Mr. Rao said people were being subjected to unnecessary distress. He claimed that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was more focused on “real estate than governance” and alleged that the government was encouraging land disputes to benefit vested interests.

The BJP leader also questioned who would compensate citizens for the mental anguish caused by the issue. He alleged that farmers had not received the promised enhancement of ₹3,000 in financial assistance to the current ₹12,000, while tenant farmers had been left out despite assurances of support.

KNRUHS fee hike

At a separate press conference in the party office in Hyderabad, spokesperson Dr. Chennamaneni Vikas Rao criticised the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) for sharply increasing university fee for MBBS admissions for B-Category seats from ₹40,000 to ₹1 lakh and for C-Category seats from ₹70,000 to ₹2 lakh.

Dr. Rao claimed that the revised fee structure would impose an additional burden of about ₹23.61 crore on students and middle-class families. He demanded that the government immediately withdraw the circular announcing the fee hike and restore the previous fee structure.

Attack condemned

Meanwhile, chief spokesperson N.V. Subhash strongly condemned the attack on the office staff and the office premises allegedly by Congress activists over remarks made about Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi as a “shameful tactic” to divert public attention and cover up the government’s failures and unfulfilled promises, even as the administration completes 1,000 days in power.
