Ather launches Konarc electric scooter at ₹99,999 with 200 km range, 10-year battery warranty
Synopsis
The new Konarc electric scooter by Ather Energy is now on the market, starting at ₹99,999. This model features the innovative EL platform and comes in six distinct variants. Prioritizing ride comfort and road stability, the Konarc introduces an in-house developed Advanced Electronic Braking System for heightened safety. Additionally, it offers a remarkable 10-year battery warranty along with increased service intervals for added convenience.

Ather Konarc launched at ₹99,999 as company targets wider EV adoption with 200 km range
Ather Energy on Saturday launched its new Konarc electric scooter at a starting price of ₹99,999, as the electric two-wheeler maker looks to make EVs more accessible to a wider base of Indian riders.
Unveiled at the fourth edition of Ather Community Day 2026 in Bengaluru, the Konarc is built on the company's new EL platform and will be offered in six variants across its S and Z product lines. The lineup includes IDC range options of up to 200 km.

The S line will comprise four variants with IDC ranges of 100 km, 125 km, 161 km and 200 km, while the Z line will have two variants with 125 km and 161 km ranges.
The Konarc S 100 km is priced at ₹99,999, the S 125 km at ₹1,21,999 and the S 161 km at ₹1,44,999, all effective ex-showroom Bengaluru. The company did not provide prices for the remaining variants in the material.
The Konarc S 125 km and S 161 km variants will be available initially, with bookings and deliveries beginning in mid-September in a phased rollout. The rollout will start with select variants and states before expanding to more locations across India.
"Konarc has been designed to make EVs mainstream in India. We have understood the needs of the vast majority of buyers who are still waiting to go electric and have engineered Konarc for them. Be it the metal panels, 200 km range, once-a-year service interval, fast home charging, or the plush and comfortable ride, we have pushed the envelope on every fundamental that matters to this buyer, without compromising on the premium experience and advanced technology that Ather is known for. Konarc has also been designed to scale, and with the vertical integration and manufacturing capacity we are building at AURIC, we can take the Ather experience to many more riders and markets across India."
Tarun Mehta, Co-Founder and CEO of Ather Energy, said this while outlining the company's positioning for the new scooter.

Focus on ride comfort and Indian road conditions
Ather said the Konarc has been engineered around the way scooters are ridden on Indian roads, with a focus on stability and comfort.
The scooter gets a 14-inch front alloy wheel and a 12-inch rear alloy wheel, along with a 1,352 mm wheelbase. A relaxed rake angle is designed to contribute to a more planted ride and greater stability, particularly on longer journeys.
Long-travel suspension at both ends is designed to absorb potholes, broken roads and uneven surfaces while keeping the scooter stable.
The Konarc is also Ather's first scooter to feature metal panels on the rear side and a steel unibody chassis. According to the company, this is intended to provide greater structural integrity and impact resistance.
The scooter uses a sequential gear-drive transmission designed to provide smooth and near-silent power delivery while reducing mechanical wear and maintaining efficiency.
Comfort-focused features include a seat and padded grab rail, while an optional LoungeBack accessory provides an adjustable backrest with lumbar support.
The design includes clean surfaces, a dual-tone treatment, new alloy wheels, illuminated Ather branding and animated wraparound lamps. The lamps respond to interactions such as waking up, locking, locating the scooter and charging.
New electronic braking system
The Konarc introduces Ather's Advanced Electronic Braking System (AeBS), which the company said was developed entirely in-house.
Unlike conventional braking systems that apply a fixed distribution of braking force between the front and rear wheels, AeBS dynamically adjusts the balance based on road conditions while braking.
The system uses software and sensors and works with the existing Ather Drive Controller and motor without requiring additional hardware. It also uses regenerative braking to add braking force.
Ather said the system is designed to help reduce stopping distances, wheel lock-ups and improve stability and control.
"Ather has spent over a decade building its technology and engineering capabilities. We started working on software-led braking, fast charging and connected scooter experiences well before they became expected in the market. That head start matters because it gives us the experience to integrate these technologies deeply into the vehicle and bring the engineering depth we have built over the years to a much larger set of riders. AeBS™, MagicKey, AutoPopTM and AirWalk™ are examples of that approach, each designed to make everyday riding more effortless."
Swapnil Jain, Co-founder and CTO of Ather Energy, said this about the company's approach to the new technologies.
MagicKey, AutoPop and AirWalk
The Konarc also introduces a set of features aimed at simplifying everyday scooter use.
MagicKey is designed to provide a keyless experience. Its SmartWake feature allows riders to wake and unlock the scooter without taking the key out of their pocket. The scooter can also automatically lock when the rider walks away.
The key can be used to locate the scooter remotely and open the seat. A ping function can locate the scooter from up to 30 metres away by triggering a sound and light response.
AutoPop is designed to make access to the under-seat storage easier when the rider's hands are full. It can be triggered from a few metres away using MagicKey, while a button on the scooter provides the same function at close range.
The seat lifts to a vertical position and remains there, providing hands-free access to the storage area.
AirWalk provides motor assistance when the scooter detects that it is being manually pushed or pulled. Ather said this can make it easier to move the scooter in tight parking spaces, back it out or manoeuvre it with under-inflated tyres.
Charging and service intervals
The Konarc comes with an onboard charger and charging cable, eliminating the need for a separate charging brick.
The charger is integrated into the scooter using the same drive controller that powers the motor. For faster home charging, customers can add a 450W offboard charger to the scooter's built-in 450W charger.
Together, the two chargers provide 900W through what Ather calls Combined Charging. The company said this can reduce home charging time by up to half.
Ather has also doubled the Konarc's service interval to 10,000 km, which it said would work out to roughly once a year for most riders, whichever is earlier.
The number of checkpoints at each service visit has been reduced, while the platform has been designed to make wear-and-tear components easier to access and replace.
10-year battery warranty
All Konarc variants will use Ather's fifth-generation Bedrock batteries, backed by a 10-year or 1,00,000 km warranty, whichever is earlier.
The new warranty extends Ather's earlier eight-year coverage period to 10 years while continuing to guarantee a minimum 70% state of health at the end of the coverage period.
The warranty also covers battery failures and defects, including periods when the scooter is not in use. Ather said sales of the 10-year battery warranty will begin soon.
Colours and rollout
The Konarc will be available in Quartz White, Lumen Copper, Celestial Gold and Majestic Grey. Steel Blue and Claret Red will be available exclusively on the higher-end Z variants.
The company said deliveries will begin in a phased manner across select variants and cities before the scooter is rolled out more widely across India.
The launch expands Ather's electric scooter portfolio, which currently includes the performance-focused 450 series and the family-oriented Rizta.
