AMUDA jurisdiction expanded to 1,765 sq. kms in Konaseema dist.

The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department has expanded the jurisdiction of the Amalapuram Urban Development Authority (AMUDA) from 896 sq. kms to 1,765 sq. kms by including Ramachandrapuram municipality and five mandals under the limits of the urban body in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema District. A GO. No. 203 was issued on the extension of the jurisdiction of the AMUDA.

“The Ramachandrapuram Municipality and five mandals – Ravulapalem, Atreyapuram, Alamuru, K. Gangavaram and Ramachandrapuram – are now part of the AMUDA,” AMUDA Chairman Allada Swamy Naidu said.

In March 2023, the AMUDA was constituted with 120 revenue villages and two urban local bodies – Amalapuram Municipality and Mummudivaram with headquarters in Amalapuram, with a total population of 7.09 lakh. Now, as many as 272 revenue villages are falling under the AMUDA limits.
