Around 150 families affected by the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslides will receive ₹2 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) through the Kudumbashree Mission for livelihood initiatives.

Agriculture Minister T. Siddique will inaugurate the distribution of the assistance at the Chandragiri auditorium in Kalpetta at 10 a.m. on Friday (August 21). Officials said the scheme sought to restore the livelihoods of disaster-affected families by promoting self-employment and entrepreneurial activities and ensuring them a stable source of income.

Financial assistance is being provided to 433 families in the disaster-affected area under the micro-plan project.

In the first phase of the project, ₹3.61 crore was sanctioned from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund and ₹1.65 crore from the Kudumbashree Plan Fund for entrepreneurial activities in the non-agricultural sector. A total of ₹4.19 crore was distributed among 305 families.

Of these, 36 families have already received ₹2 lakh each. The government has sanctioned ₹5.11 crore for the remaining 269 families.
