Navi Mumbai :- In a significant move, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation conducted a demolition operation to address unauthorized constructions in various areas of the city. The action was taken under the jurisdiction of the Nerul department, particularly near Balaji Tekdi in Sector-22, Nerul, Navi Mumbai.
To execute this operation, the Nerul department employed 15 workers, 1 JCB vehicle (Registration: MH.43.3281), and 2 dumper trucks (Registrations: 1) MH.43.Y.4946, 2) MH.43.E.5201). In addition, they carried out electricity disconnections, gas supply cut-offs, and seized three vehicles (Registrations: 1) MH43-G-388, 2) MH05-DH-7602, 3) MH43-AD-2741) at the respective department offices.
This operation is part of a broader campaign against encroachments across Navi Mumbai, and it was conducted under the guidance of the Municipal Commissioner. Dr. Rahul Gethe, the Deputy Commissioner of the Encroachment Department, oversaw the operation. Notably, today’s action also extended to Ghansoli department, as directed by the Municipal Commissioner.
In the Ghansoli area, unauthorized constructions were observed on the premises of residents Gunanath Laxman Mhatre, Akash Chandrakant Patil, and developer Ganesh Namdev Gadiwakar. These constructions had violated Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, specifically under Section 54. The concerned parties were required to remove these illegal structures themselves. However, they had failed to comply, necessitating municipal intervention.
In a show of determination, the Ghansoli department mobilized a team comprising department officials, laborers, and heavy machinery to carry out demolitions. A similar drive was conducted in Turbhe, where two unauthorized constructions were brought down.
In Sanpada, Vinayak Ashok Patil’s property (House No. 119/2) was found to have unauthorized ground-floor construction measuring approximately 9.40 meters by 6.00 meters, which violated relevant sections of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966. The Municipal Commissioner’s directive, under Section 53 1(a), allowed for a 24-hour notice period under Section 52, Chapter 1, “A” and “K” sections for such unauthorized constructions.
Simultaneously, unauthorized construction activities initiated by Vilas Bhoir, Dilip Bhoir, Manoj Bhoir, and Anil Bhoir in Sanpada had violated similar provisions. These structures were subject to demolition under the same legal framework, leading to a concerted effort by the Turbhe department.
The Municipal Commissioner’s orders, coupled with the supervision of Dr. Rahul Gethe and support from the assistant commissioner Bharat Dhande, have led to the successful removal of these unauthorized constructions. These actions have demonstrated the municipality’s commitment to cracking down on unauthorized developments in Navi Mumbai.
The campaign against encroachments will intensify in the coming days, with more departments across the city participating in efforts to reclaim public spaces and uphold the law.
