Palghar :- The International Egg Council has officially declared the second Friday in October as “World Egg Day.” This year, on October 13, 2023, the Palghar District Animal Husbandry Department and the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Department are collaborating to celebrate World Egg Day on a grand scale. The event will be held across the entire district of Palghar.
The theme for this year’s World Egg Day is “Eggs for a Healthy Future.” Approximately 90 livestock institutions across the district are gearing up to contribute nearly 100,000 eggs for the occasion.
At the regional level, educational programs, including lectures to guide students on the importance of eggs in their daily diet, will be organized under the banner of “Eggs for a Healthy Future.” Not only will this initiative provide vital information on the nutritional value of eggs, but it will also encourage the daily consumption of eggs.
In addition to educational programs, there will be a unique egg display where locally produced eggs will be showcased, further emphasizing the significance of including eggs in one’s diet. This display aims to raise awareness of the nutritional value of eggs, their affordability, and their role in enhancing overall health.
The event will extend its reach to anganwadis (childcare centers) and nearby schools, where children will participate in egg-themed activities and learn about the importance of eggs in their diet. The local Livestock Supervisors, Livestock Development Officers, Assistant Commissioners of Animal Husbandry, and Deputy Commissioners of Animal Husbandry will collaborate to create awareness among the general public.
All are encouraged to take part in this event and reap the benefits of this informative initiative, as emphasized by Dr. Prakash Hasnalikar, the District Animal Husbandry Officer, and Praveen Bhavsar, the District Program Officer.
