Mira-Bhayander :- Under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2023, the seventh day of the special cleanliness campaign on October 23, 2023, witnessed the participation of officials from Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. In the presence of Commissioner and Administrator Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar, I.A.S, two groups, led by Additional Commissioner Aniket Manorkar, and Additional Commissioner Sambhaji Panpattay, took to the streets.
The first group, under the guidance of Aniket Manorkar, cleaned the areas from Maxus Mall to Morva Village. The second group, led by Sambhaji Panpattay, focused on Geeta Nagar to D-Mart premises. This cleanliness drive involved a substantial workforce, including Dy Commissioner Ravi Pawar, Dy Commissioner Maruti Gayakwad, Dy Commissioner Sanjay Shinde, Dy Commissioner Kalpita Pimpale, City Engineer Dipak Khambit, and officers from various departments, totaling around 350 to 400 participants.
Within the campaign, ten teams from different departments, including sanitation workers and department heads, took responsibility for cleaning specific areas in Ward 1. The campaign involved various activities such as direct cleaning, removing stickers, taking action against illegal plastic dumping, improving toilet hygiene, cleaning statues and idols, repairing damaged drains, and beautifying open plots, gardens, and water bodies.
From 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the participants dedicated their efforts to these tasks. The Commissioner, Additional Commissioners, and employees of Ward 1 also visited schools and inspected public toilets in Murdha, Rai, and Morva to ensure cleanliness and provided necessary guidance. The citizens enthusiastically responded to the campaign, further boosting its success.
As part of this cleanliness drive, a total of 4,000 kilograms of illegal plastic waste has been collected, resulting in fines amounting to Rs. 5,93,000. The special cleanliness campaign is set to continue until October 27, 2023, with the active participation of citizens encouraged. Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation’s Commissioner and Administrator, Mr. Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar, has urged citizens to join in and contribute to the city’s cleanliness.
