Navi Mumbai :- In a special program called ‘SwachhAnjali’ organized in honor of Mahatma Gandhi and to express gratitude towards cleanliness workers, renowned writer Mr. Achyut Palav graced the event with his presence. He acknowledged the dedication of the cleanliness workers who diligently work every morning to keep the city clean. This event, held at the amphitheater of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters, also featured the presence of Mr. Achyut Palav as the icon of Swachh New Mumbai Mission and Mr. Tenzing Norge, the recipient of the National Bravery Award for International Water Conservation.
The program marked both Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary and Lal Bahadur Shastri’s birth anniversary. Under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ initiative, various cleanliness-related events have been organized since September 15th, involving over 183,000 students participating in a successful clean art competition, more than 26,000 citizens taking a digital cleanliness pledge, and over 114,000 citizens simultaneously taking a collective cleanliness oath across eight departments, achieving three Best of India Records. This significant involvement of the citizens in promoting cleanliness has been appreciated, and Commissioner Mrs. Sujata Dhole mentioned that cleanliness is now becoming synonymous with the identity of Navi Mumbai.
The tradition of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation to honor workers who contribute to cleanliness and provide other essential services has been upheld in every program. Fifteen male and female workers involved in water conservation and the Morbe Dam project were recognized at this event. Mr. Achyut Palav praised the Corporation’s tradition of honoring workers involved in such vital tasks.
Mr. Dhananjay Kambale, a sanitation worker from the Solid Waste Management Department, captivated the audience with his rendition of the song ‘Mere Desh Ki Dharti’ (The Land of My Country). Furthermore, students from Pune Vidya Bhavan School presented a play titled ‘Kachara Navhe Sampatti’ (Waste Is Not Wealth), and students from NMMC Secondary School 111 performed ‘Matī Pukārē Tujhē Dēśa Pukārē’ (The Soil Calls, So Does the Nation), promoting the message of cleanliness.
The event emphasized the artistic talents of cleanliness workers, using their skills to spread the message of cleanliness from a young age. The rangoli competition was a notable highlight of the program.
In conclusion, the ‘SwachhAnjali’ event celebrated the spirit of cleanliness, acknowledging the contributions of both the cleanliness workers and the citizens of Navi Mumbai. This collective effort is driving Navi Mumbai towards a cleaner and more beautiful future.
