In a major boost to the state’s law enforcement capacity, the Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the recruitment of approximately 15,000 police constable positions for the 2024–25 term. The decision, taken in a recent cabinet meeting, will kickstart one of the largest police recruitment drives in recent years.

Significantly, candidates who had crossed the prescribed age limit for similar posts during the 2022 and 2023 recruitment cycles will be granted a one-time special concession. This move will allow them to apply and participate in the upcoming selection process.
Officials say the decision not only addresses the growing manpower needs of the Maharashtra Police but also provides a fair opportunity to previously ineligible aspirants, ensuring a wider talent pool for the force.
