Mira Road, October 13, 2024 – In a tragic incident, a 37-year-old man, Nadeem Khan, brutally murdered his estranged wife, Amreen Khan, 36, outside the Naya Nagar police station in Mira Road on Friday. The couple had been embroiled in a bitter custody battle over their two children.
Nadeem, an interior decorator and furniture shop owner, had been separated from Amreen for two years. Their two children, aged 12 and 2, had been living with their father. Amreen, who resided in Bandra, had been granted custody of the children 18 months ago by the Thane court. Despite the court order, Nadeem had refused to hand them over.
On Thursday, Amreen sought police protection to enforce the court’s order. However, on Friday, while she waited outside the police station, Nadeem attacked her with a knife, fatally slitting her throat. He then surrendered to the police.
Amreen was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Nadeem has been arrested, and the police are investigating further
