Palghar :- In a significant development, the Palghar District Council recently convened a meeting at the District Collector’s office to address various electricity-related problems in the region. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Prakash Nikam, the President of the District Council, who discussed the issues plaguing the district.
On October 30, 2023, the meeting saw the participation of key stakeholders, including Mr. Vishwas Pathak, the Director of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL), and representatives from Mahavitaran, the state’s power distribution company. The discussion primarily revolved around the challenges faced by consumers, particularly in dealing with high electricity bills and meter-related issues.
Mr. Nikam, in response to these concerns, assured residents that steps would be taken to address these problems promptly. He emphasized the need to expedite the removal of electrical poles along roads, undertake pond water conservation projects, and enhance voltage regulation. Furthermore, he pledged to launch a 132 kV substation in Jamsher and facilitate the construction of a playground dedicated to Lord Khandoba in Vikramgad.
Mr. Nikam also introduced the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), aimed at improving electricity distribution in the region. Under this scheme, an extra high-voltage (EHV) substation will be established in Palasunda, and additional feeder lines will be connected from Jamsher to alleviate voltage issues in Mokhada. The plan includes increasing the capacity of 33/22 kV transformers, covering conductors for 22 kV feeders, and upgrading distribution transformers.
Notably, a significant upgrade will see the expansion of 63 KVA distribution transformers to 100 KVA and 200 KVA to 315 KVA, a project set to be completed within six months. Moreover, all primary health centers in Palghar District will be provided with three-phase power connections, a critical step to ensure better healthcare facilities for the region’s residents.
This meeting signifies a commitment from the Palghar District Council to address and resolve pressing electricity-related issues, promising improved electrical services for the community.
