Navi Mumbai :- In a remarkable initiative to raise awareness about breast cancer and promote cleanliness in the city, over 1200 enthusiastic participants joined a mini marathon with a 5-kilometer distance, starting from Mini Sea Shore in Vashi. This event, aptly named “Let’s Conquer the Fear of Cancer,” was organized by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation and received tremendous support from citizens, health professionals, and fitness enthusiasts.
Dr. Babasaheb Rajale, the Deputy Commissioner of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the Nodal Officer for the Swachh Bharat Mission, played a pivotal role in combining cancer awareness with the cleanliness campaign. This unique approach aimed to not only educate the public about breast cancer but also instill a sense of responsibility for maintaining a clean and hygienic city. Dr. Rajale expressed his gratitude to the organizers for effectively merging social awareness and praised the participants for their unwavering commitment to both the causes.
Navi Mumbai, often referred to as the “Clean City,” witnessed a massive citizen turnout, demonstrating their strong commitment to the cause. Dr. Rajale outlined three significant steps in this effort: increasing waste segregation, constructing more facilities for waste management, and adopting the “Three R” principle – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. These steps are aimed at transforming Navi Mumbai into a cleaner and more environmentally responsible city.
The event, aptly named “Chala, Cancerchi Bhiti Ghala Vuya” (Let’s Conquer the Fear of Cancer), garnered participation from over 400 individuals who have triumphed over breast cancer. These survivors were honored for their courage and resilience, setting an inspiring example for others.
The mini marathon started from Mini Sea Shore in Sector 10-A and concluded at Vashi Police Station, covering a distance of approximately 5 kilometers. The event took place from 7 am to 9 am, with participants sporting specially designed pink and blue masks representing breast cancer awareness and cleanliness.
Key figures involved in this remarkable event include Dr. Babasaheb Rajale, Deputy Commissioner of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Santosh Marathe, Regional Special Officer of Apollo Hospital, Dr. Nita Nayar, an oncology expert at Apollo Hospital, Richa Bhargav from Health Advisory Services, Shreekumar Menon, the head of Let’s Celebrate Fitness, and many other esteemed individuals who contributed to making this event a grand success.
The mini marathon not only showcased the unity of Navi Mumbai residents but also strengthened their resolve to create a cleaner and more aware society.
