Palghar :- In Palghar district, various initiatives have been taken to promote education and extracurricular activities in tribal ashramshalas (residential schools). One remarkable effort in this direction is the organization of diverse sports competitions within these ashramshalas. Through these competitions, teachers have identified promising talents and paved the way for these students to represent at the national level.
On October 27, 2023, an inauguration ceremony for a project-level sports competition for tribal development was held at Jawhar Vinaval, and the event was graced by the presence of Mr. Prakash Nikam, President of the District Council. During the event, Mr. Nikam addressed the audience, highlighting the significance of such competitions and their role in nurturing young sports talents.
The tribal ashramshalas themselves have produced representatives who are no less than role models for the entire community. The dedication and commitment of these students have deeply moved Mr. Nikam, and he expressed his enduring support for these ashramshalas.
The event was organized with the participation of project officials, Neha Bhosale, Deputy District Collector; Sanjay Suryavanshi, the Chief of Sports for the project; and Leelavati More, the Sarpanch (village head).
During his speech, Mr. Nikam acknowledged the substantial progress made in the tribal community through the establishment of ten new schools in the past twelve years. He extended an invitation to the students to ensure that no school is shut down due to low enrollment and also urged girls to delay marriage until the age of 18 and boys until the age of 21. Furthermore, he commended the efforts of ashramshalas’ teachers in instilling a sense of pride and discipline in the students.
The event was attended by all the headmasters, sports participants, and the government-aided employees of the ashramshalas, making it a remarkable and inspirational occasion for all involved. This initiative showcases the commitment of the Palghar District Council to empower and support the tribal community’s education and sporting aspirations.
