Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Organizes Training Camp for Sanitation Workers

Navi Mumbai :- In an effort to enhance the efficiency and expertise of sanitation workers, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation organized a specialized training camp in collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The camp aimed to provide sanitation workers, often referred to as “cleanliness soldiers,” with essential knowledge and skills related to waste management and emergency response.

The responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in Navi Mumbai City is of paramount importance, and the municipal corporation has been taking significant steps to ensure the welfare and empowerment of its sanitation workers. One such initiative is the “Cleanliness is Service” campaign, conducted under the guidance of the Disaster Management Department, Solid Waste Management, and the Engineering Department of the municipal corporation.

The training camp, attended by over 250 enthusiastic sanitation workers, focused on various aspects of disaster management, including knowledge of different types of emergencies, immediate healthcare availability, first aid, fire safety, and self-defense. The camp aimed to equip the sanitation workers not only with essential skills but also to enhance their overall well-being and safety awareness.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Sanjay Desai, the City Engineer, Dr. Babasaheb Rajale, Deputy Commissioner of Solid Waste Management and Disaster Management, and Mr. Manoj Patil, Additional City Engineer, all emphasized the significance of this training camp. They believe it will play a vital role in ensuring a cleaner and safer Navi Mumbai while improving the workers’ capabilities and confidence.

The sanitation workers were highly appreciative of the training and the supportive environment provided by the NDRF and municipal corporation. The NDRF inspectors, Mr. Gaurav Chauhan and Mr. Vijay Mhaske, also played a crucial role in guiding and motivating the participants.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has taken a positive step in enhancing the knowledge and direct skills of sanitation workers through this training program, which was conducted in collaboration with a recognized institution like the NDRF. This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the municipality’s sanitation and disaster management efforts, and the workers are ready to carry their new knowledge and skills into their daily work.
