Vasai-Virar :- In commemoration of 75 years of India’s independence and to rekindle the spirit of freedom fighters, Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation hosted the “Amrit Kalash Yatra” event as part of the nationwide “My Land, My Country” campaign. The campaign, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” from August 9, 2023, aims to honor the unsung heroes of the freedom struggle and uphold the patriotic fervor in the hearts of the people.
Under this initiative, several events were organized, including the “Panchpran Pratigna” (Five Oaths), “Veeru Ka Vandana” (Salute to the Heroes), “Vasudha Vandana” (Planting 75 Trees to Create ‘Amrit Vatika’), and the unveiling of “Shilafalakm” (Cornerstone) at various locations in the Vasai-Virar municipal area.
The “Amrit Kalash Yatra” event, which took place on October 10, 2023, brought together municipal officials, employees, students, teachers, and respected citizens, all dressed in attire representing the diverse culture of India. They symbolically combined soil and rice from different states to create a unity-filled Kalash (pot), which will be presented during the upcoming program organized by the Government of Maharashtra on October 27, 2023, and subsequently in Delhi on November 1, 2023.
Additionally, “Veeru Ka Vandana” will result in the construction of a memorial for martyrs in Delhi, and the soil and rice from the Kalash will be offered at this memorial. The event also featured cultural programs, including tribal dances and other cultural activities organized by the “A” Ward and Women’s Savings Groups.
The concluding ceremony witnessed the administration officials, including Mr. Rajendra Gaavit, Mr. Anilkumar Pawar, and various political party representatives, as well as government officials, journalists, municipal officers, students, teachers, and other esteemed citizens.
The event aimed to celebrate the rich diversity of India and pay tribute to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, reinforcing the message that our land and our country are united in their diversity. It was an ode to the spirit of patriotism and unity that continues to inspire the nation.
