Navi Mumbai :- In a remarkable display of patriotism and cultural celebration, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation organized the “Bhavya Amrut Kalash Yatra” as part of the “My Land, My Country” initiative. The event saw the collection of soil from various regions within the eighth department of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, which was then used to fill Amrut Kalashas (sacred pots) at the Municipal Headquarters. Dignitaries, officials, and citizens enthusiastically participated in this nationwide program, which reflects India’s rich heritage and cultural diversity.
The event was graced by notable figures, including Ramesh Patil, a member of the Vidhan Parishad; M. Sujata Dhole, Additional Commissioner; Sanjay Desai, City Engineer; Sharad Pawar, Administrative Officer; Mangala Malve, the Nodal Officer of “My Land, My Country” initiative; Lalita Babar, Commissioner of Parks and Gardens; Dr. Babasaheb Rajale, Director of Sanitation and Hygiene; Dilip Nerakar, Director of Horticulture; Dattatray Ghanvat, Director of Education; Chitra Baviskar, Secretary; and Mahendra Gawai, along with other distinguished individuals.
The “My Land, My Country” initiative, aimed at fostering a sense of unity and patriotism, resonates with the celebration of India’s rich history and its journey to independence. Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar, the city orchestrated a series of grand events, including “Vasudha Vandana,” “Shilafalakam,” “Panchpran Shapath,” and honoring the families of martyrs, all in a majestic manner.
During the second phase of the event, a magnificent procession of the “Amrut Kalash Yatra” was carried out with traditional fanfare, showcasing the beautifully decorated sacred pots and bands playing traditional music. The procession made its way through various localities, engaging residents in the patriotic spirit. At the culmination of this procession, eight Amrut Kalashas were brought together at the Municipal Headquarters on Service Road, where students, citizens, and departmental employees joined hands in transporting them.
These Amrut Kalashas, filled with soil from different parts of the region, will be sent to the state capital of Mumbai, as well as the national capital of Delhi, to be used in the construction of memorials dedicated to the nation’s martyrs. This initiative highlights the collective effort of Navi Mumbai residents in contributing to this noble cause.
The active participation of citizens and the successful execution of these social programs reflect the tremendous enthusiasm and support for such initiatives in Navi Mumbai. Councilor Ramesh Patil praised the meticulous organization of the events, which garnered appreciation from all quarters.
Furthermore, the event paid tribute to the families of our brave soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. Notably, the families of Indian Army hero Laxman Shelke, who laid down his life in Jammu and Kashmir in 2001, and Police Constable Bhiku Karade, who was martyred in the line of duty in 2006, were honored. The wife of Police Constable Gopal Saindane, who lost his life combating Naxal insurgents in 2007, was also recognized.
The cultural aspect of the program showcased artistic renditions of patriotic sentiments, with mesmerizing performances by students and local artists. The event not only celebrated India’s cultural richness but also instilled a deep sense of patriotism among participants.
In addition, as part of the “My Land, My Country” initiative, two video documentaries created under the central government’s guidance were screened, showcasing the diverse events organized at the departmental and headquarters levels.
Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s dedication to preserving India’s heritage and fostering unity among its citizens was evident throughout the event. The enthusiastic participation of Navi Mumbai residents ensured the success of all programs, reflecting the deep love and national pride they hold for their motherland.
