Palghar :- In alignment with the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary and the upcoming Swachh Bharat Divas (Clean India Day) on October 2nd, 2023, the “Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS)” initiative has been launched in Palghar district from September 15th to October 2nd, 2023. This campaign, part of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), is dedicated to realizing the vision of a “Garbage-free India.”
The focus of Swachhata Hi Seva 2023 is to center efforts on the well-being of sanitation workers and to encourage every member of the community to contribute towards maintaining cleanliness in their villages through voluntary labor.
On September 17th, various Gram Panchayats within Palghar district witnessed a massive participation in the cleanliness drive. In Nandore-Devkhop and Govade, Palghar taluka, a spirited rally featuring traditional drum beats and local enthusiasm kickstarted the cleanliness campaign. Present on this occasion were officials from the Palghar Panchayat Samiti, including the Development Officer Narendra Revandkar. The event also saw the presence of the Gram Panchayat’s Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch, Gram Vikas Adhikari, officials from the Water and Sanitation Mission, the Taluka Coordinator, and concerned citizens from the village limits.
Throughout the district, citizens from diverse locations came together to contribute to the cleanliness drive. Their efforts aimed at making their villages free from waste and litter, transforming public spaces into clean and welcoming areas.
The Swachhata Hi Seva 2023 campaign’s commitment to a “Garbage-free India” echoes the values of Mahatma Gandhi and his vision for a clean and self-sufficient nation. As the campaign continues until October 2nd, 2023, it serves as a reminder of the power of community-driven initiatives in realizing a cleaner, healthier India.
