Navi Mumbai :- The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s dedicated team, ‘Navi Mumbai Eco Knights,’ is making waves as they prepare to participate in the ‘Indian Cleanliness League 2.0’ under the esteemed ‘Swachh Bharat Mission.’ Led by Municipal Commissioner Shri. Rajesh Narvekar, this enthusiastic team has orchestrated a series of impactful initiatives to promote cleanliness across the city.
On September 12, the team unveiled their emblem in a ceremony graced by the presence of renowned musician Shankar Mahadevan. However, the grand highlight is set for September 17 when citizens of all ages, backgrounds, and genders will congregate at eight different locations throughout the municipal area at 8:00 AM. They will collectively pledge their commitment to cleanliness in what promises to be a heartening display of unity and civic responsibility.
In the lead-up to this momentous event, officers and employees of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation are reaching out to various communities, engaging with citizens, and fostering awareness about the ‘Indian Cleanliness League 2.0.’
Deputy Commissioner of Solid Waste Management Department and NMMC Nodal Officer of Swachh Bharat Mission, Dr. Babasaheb Rajle, took an active role in this outreach effort. He visited several societies, including NRI Society Sector-56 Seawoods, Konkan Railway Colony Se-40 Belapur, Nilsiddhi Atlantis Apt. Sector-29 Nerul, and Shiv Palm Beach Society Sector-4 Nerul. Dr. Rajle passionately explained the forthcoming program under ‘Indian Swachhta League 2.0’ and appealed to every citizen to partake in the collective cleanliness pledge.
Dr. Rajle also stressed the importance of effective waste management, urging citizens to segregate wet, dry, and domestic hazardous waste and adhere to the ‘Three R’ principles—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Navi Mumbai has a stellar reputation to uphold, having secured the top spot in the country for maximum youth participation in the previous year’s league. Dr. Babasaheb Rajle voiced his confidence in the community, stating, “It is the collective responsibility of all of us to maintain this rating, and we believe that the citizens of Navi Mumbai will participate in this initiative in large numbers.”

Students from Class I to X will compete in three categories, with attractive prizes awaiting the creators of the most outstanding artwork.
The overarching goal of these initiatives is to reiterate Navi Mumbai’s identity as a ‘Swachh Shahr’ (Clean City) and inspire a city-wide movement towards cleanliness. Citizens are invited to participate voluntarily, embracing the spirit of ‘My Clean City, My Responsibility.’
Commissioner Shri. Rajesh Narvekar applauded these efforts, emphasizing their significance for the entire city’s well-being. The call to action is clear: Navi Mumbai is poised for a cleaner, greener future, and its residents are leading the way.
