Mumbai, August 12, 2023 :- The Government of Maharashtra has released a comprehensive circular outlining the arrangements for the upcoming 76th Anniversary of Indian Independence Day celebrations, scheduled for Tuesday, August 15, 2023. The circular provides detailed instructions to ensure a seamless and patriotic observance of the occasion across the state.
The circular highlights several key points to ensure the success of the celebrations:
- Flag Hoisting Across the State: The day will commence with the hoisting of the national flag at all divisional, district, sub-divisional, taluka headquarters, and Gram Panchayat headquarters throughout the state. The Divisional Commissioners of major divisions will oversee the flag hoisting ceremonies.
- Government Program at Mantralaya: The main official program will take place at the Mantralaya in Mumbai, where the Hon’ble Chief Minister will hoist the flag at 9:05 am. Similar ceremonies will occur in other key cities, including Pune and Nagpur.
- Guardian Ministers and Flag Hoisting: Guardian Ministers, if responsible for multiple districts, will be designated to hoist the flag at a specific district headquarters. In case a guardian minister is unavailable, the Divisional Commissioner or District Collector will step in.
- Unified Flag Hoisting Time: To ensure unity, all district and division headquarters will hoist the flag at 9:05 am, avoiding any official functions between 8:35 am and 9:35 am.
- Promoting Unity and Integrity: Speeches during the event will emphasize the significance of Independence Day and inspire participants to work towards the unity and integrity of the nation.
- Various Programs and Activities: The day will be marked with activities such as tree plantation, debates, quizzes, patriotic essays, poetry competitions, and patriotic song performances by selected students.
- National Flag Display: The national flag will be hoisted on public and government buildings across the state, including historically significant forts.
- Flag Hoisting Protocol: Care will be taken to follow the protocol for flag hoisting as outlined in previous government circulars. The flag will be lowered at sunset.
- Distinguished Invitations: Local representatives, freedom fighters, bravery award recipients, political party leaders, and other prominent citizens will be invited to the government program.
- Code of Conduct: The circular emphasizes that the event should not be exploited for political purposes and that the traditional locations for flag hoisting should be maintained.
