Review meetings will be held in all public universities from September 17 to assess their academic activities, financial standing, quality of education and other factors, Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayaraddi said.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, the Minister said there are 32 public universities in the State. On the first day, public universities in Mangaluru, Kodagu, Shivamogga and Davangere will be visited and reviewed.

The review meetings will be completed in all universities by September 30.

“Questionnaires have already been sent to all the universities and the officials should keep answers ready,” the Minister added.

“Problems in universities are unique, and the situation in each needs to be understood. It has been decided to personally visit each university and gather information,” Rayareddi said.

“It has been learnt that the financial situation in the universities in the State is not good. Therefore, a discussion will be held mainly on the financial situation and the necessary grants. The government has given permission to fill about 1,000 vacant posts in the universities. Information will be obtained about how many posts are required in which universities, how many vacant posts are there, and other issues,” he said.
