Opposition focussed on personal interests, gets angry when India progresses: BJP chief Nitin Nabin

By Sohail Khan 6 September 2026, 11:24 pm

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi branded critical Opposition leaders as “naraaz fufa (angry uncle)”, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Nabin declared on Sunday (September 6, 2026) that the PM had hit the nail on the head in his characterisation of politicians focussed on their “own personal interest”, who get angry whenever India makes progress.

The PM had used the phrase to attack Opposition leaders during a speech to youth at the Shri Ram College of Commerce in Delhi on Saturday (September 5, 2026). A day later, Mr. Nabin doubled down in a video message posted on Facebook.

“There are some people who remain dissatisfied within family and society and can never move forward or think in any positive direction. It was precisely such people whom Modi Ji referred to as “naraaz fufa”, Mr. Nabin said in his two-and-a-half minute video message.

Questions Opposition anger

“I want to ask the Opposition, when India is developing today, why are they angry? When India abrogates Article 370 and hoists the tricolor at Lal Chowk in Kashmir, why do they get angry? Today, when Naxalism is being completely eradicated from its roots, why do they get angry?” he asked. “With the slogan under which they remained in power for so many years, today when that slogan has been truly fulfilled and 25 crore poor families have been brought out of poverty by Modi Ji, they are angry even at this,” he added.

Without naming anyone, Mr. Nabin explained that Opposition leaders cannot bear to see India’s development, heritage, and culture moving forward.

Personal interest, prestige

“Because they remain completely hidden in personal interests and personal prestige. The situation of “naraaz fufa” within a family has today become the situation of the Opposition in India. I want to state clearly that Modi Ji’s vision is to fulfil the dream of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, and with that dream, today, 140 crore Indians have set out,” he said.

No matter how much anger or opposition comes from the political Opposition, India’s development will not be stopped, and together with 140 crore countrymen, the resolve of a developed India will be fulfilled, he added.

Earlier in the day, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi lashed out at Mr. Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary regarding the harsh police action taken against protesting students in Bihar.
