Senior Congress leaders challenged former Chief Minister and BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao to attend the Assembly and play the role of a responsible Opposition leader, “rather than spreading fake news on social media platforms.”

The party organised a dharna at Indira Park on Sunday, seeking his resignation for failing to attend the Assembly. TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said that as per people’s wish, KCR should play a responsible Opposition leader role and the government was ready to take his suggestions and correct the wrong decisions, if any.

Mr. Goud said that the Congress government had attracted ₹1.78 lakh crore in foreign investments in two years and more jobs would be created during the remaining two-and-a-half years of the government’s term. He also highlighted the caste survey saying it was being held up as a model for the country.

Minister for IT and Industries D. Sridhar Babu said that KCR should attend the Assembly and the government was “Ready to give a befitting reply to what ever issues you raise in the Assembly.” He said the government had spent more than ₹1.60 lakh crore on farmers.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said more than 72,000 jobs had been filled and welfare allocations for SCs, STs, BCs and minorities had been strengthened. “A government employee who remains absent for 365 days would face action, but a former CM escapes action,” he said.

Former MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud and MPs Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and Mallu Ravi also criticised the BRS leadership challenging Mr. Rao to come for a debate rather than escaping from his responsibilities.

The dharna, presided over by government adviser V. Hanumantha Rao, was attended by Ministers Mohammed Azharuddin and Vivek Venkataswamy, MPs Anil Kumar Yadav, Mr. Mallu Ravi and Mr. Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, and working president T. Jagga Reddy, among other MLAs and MLCs.
