Congress legislators belonging to the Dalit community took strong exception to the alleged objectionable remarks made by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Tata Madhu against Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.

Speaking to the media at the Assembly media point on Monday (September 7, 2026), Congress MLAs and MLCs alleged Mr. Madhu had stated that former Chief Minister and BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao was not attending the Assembly because he did not want to address the Speaker as ’sir’.

Mr. Madhu also allegedly used some objectionable remarks against the Speaker when the police stopped the BRS Legislators from entering the house as they were wearing black t-shirts with slogans against the government. There was a huge scuffle with the BRS legislators pushing the police when they refused the legislators from entering the Assembly.

The Congress legislators condemned the alleged remarks, saying they amounted to disrespect to the Speaker and the Dalit community. They demanded that KCR attend the Assembly and apologise to Telangana society for what they described as his attitude towards Dalits.

MLC Addanki Dayakar questioned whether making such remarks against the Speaker was part of the instructions given by KCR to his party MLAs and MLCs during his recent meeting with them at his farmhouse.

The Congress leaders said KCR, as a former Chief Minister and senior political leader, should respect the constitutional position of the Assembly Speaker and clarify his stand on the issue.
