BUDS school at Karode must be reopened immediately: Child Rights Commission

The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has directed that immediate steps be taken to reopen and operate the BUDS school in Karode panchayat, Thiruvananthapuram, which was inaugurated two and a half years ago.
The commission directed that the school be provided an electricity connection so that it can be made operational. It also suggested that if there is a shortage of children, students from neighbouring panchayats may be accommodated in the school.
The commission gave the directive at its district sitting held at the Thiruvananthapuram PWD Rest House.
The commission also ordered that encroachers be evicted from the land belonging to the Kunnathukal Government UP School in Parassala sub-district.
The sitting took up 47 complaints, of which 29 were disposed of. In the case of 18 complaints, these were deferred for detailed orders and further action.
The sitting was led by Commission members F. Wilson and K.K. Shaju.
