ANIDelhi Police on Monday issued a general security advisory ahead of the BRICS Summit 2026, urging citizens to remain vigilant in crowded public places and cooperate with police personnel as enhanced security arrangements are put in place across the New Delhi district for the movement of international dignitaries and delegations.
India will host the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, bringing together leaders of BRICS member and partner countries, outreach countries and heads of international organisations.

The summit is expected to provide a platform for discussions on issues of mutual interest and further strengthening cooperation among BRICS countries.
With the movement of foreign leaders and other high-level delegations expected in the capital, Delhi Police has asked citizens to remain alert at public places, including markets, hotels, Metro stations, railway stations, bus stands and other crowded locations.

Police ask citizens to report suspicious activity
The advisory cautions people against touching or handling any unattended or suspicious object, bag or package. Citizens have been asked to immediately inform the police about any suspicious person, object, vehicle or unusual activity.
Delhi Police has also urged people to cooperate with police personnel and follow official advisories issued from time to time during the summit.
Residents have been advised not to provide accommodation, shelter or employment to unknown persons without proper verification. They have also been asked to ensure police verification of domestic helps, tenants and other persons wherever required.
Hotels, guest houses asked to maintain visitor records
Hotel, guest house and accommodation operators have been directed to ensure proper verification of guests and visitors and maintain records as required under applicable rules.
Citizens have also been asked to avoid unnecessary gatherings near sensitive locations, designated routes and venues connected with the summit.
The advisory comes as the capital prepares to host the two-day BRICS gathering, with security arrangements being strengthened across New Delhi district to facilitate the movement of international dignitaries and delegations.
