The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday approved revival and rationalisation of 13,252 rural water supply works at an estimated cost of ₹4,053 crore, sanctioned a ₹950-crore government guarantee for an APTRANSCO loan from Power Finance Corporation (PFC), and approved ₹94 crore in price deficiency support for tobacco farmers.

Information and Public Relations Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy, along with I&PR Commissioner K.S. Viswanathan, briefed the media at the Secretariat after the Cabinet meeting.

Under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0, the Cabinet approved restructuring of rural water supply works to accelerate the “Har Ghar Jal” target. Of the 13,252 works, 13,247 Single Village Schemes will be rationalised into 7,439 schemes at a cost of ₹3,046 crore. Five Multi Village Schemes costing ₹1,007 crore will benefit 334 villages. The earlier G.O.Ms.No.94, dated July 22, 2026, sanctioning 2,943 works at ₹1,811 crore, was cancelled following the rationalisation.

For tobacco growers, the Cabinet approved ₹94 crore to AP MARKFED to provide ₹10 per kg as Price Deficiency Support through direct benefit transfer for the purchase of 94 million kg of low and off-style tobacco during the 2026 season. It also extended concurrence to AP MARKFED to mobilise working capital and short-term loans to implement the support price for Totapuri mangoes during the 2026-27 marketing season.

The Cabinet approved a ₹950-crore government guarantee in favour of PFC towards repayment of a medium-term loan obtained by APTRANSCO, subject to stipulated conditions. It also approved corporate guarantees by APGENCO of ₹500 crore to PFC and ₹550 crore to REC in connection with medium-term loans obtained by APPDCL.

The Cabinet approved consideration of the NHPC methodology for calculating price variation for E&M and H&M works of the Polavaram Hydroelectric Project. The amount approved for consideration is ₹558 crore including GST.

In the energy sector, the Cabinet cancelled the 800-MW Avuku Pumped Storage Project allotted to RVR Projects Private Limited under G.O.Ms.No.62 dated July 28, 2025. It exempted APGENCO’s Sileru complex power stations from the Fire Precautionary Fee for obtaining Fire NOCs, in line with the policy applicable to AIIMS Mangalagiri, government hospitals and Central government institutions.

The Cabinet approved 78 flood-damage restoration works in Krishna, NTR, Guntur and Bapatla districts at a total cost of ₹624.88 lakh.

It also approved several industrial land proposals, including transfer of 18.20 acres at Vavil Thota and 50.56 acres at Pogurupalle in Chittoor district for industrial and MSME parks, besides 25 acres at Duvvur in YSR Kadapa district for a solar power project under the PM-KUSUM feeder-level solarisation scheme.

A new veterinary dispensary was also approved at Achchammakunta in Macherla mandal, benefiting about 12,648 livestock and poultry in the surrounding villages.
