Tata Motors on Thursday unveiled Tata.Cars, a new brand identity for its passenger vehicle business, as the automaker seeks to tap into the growing aspirations of Indian consumers.
While Tata.Cars will serve as the primary customer-facing brand, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) will continue to remain the legal entity.
"Tata Motors is charting a new course…As we move ahead, Indians are more confident than ever before. They are looking beyond limits," said Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO of TMPVL.
"For more than three decades, Tata Motors has grown alongside india. It is about understanding what Indian customers aspire to. Progress happens when tomorrow is not left for tomorrow," the MD said at an event.
Alongside Tata.Cars, the automaker unveiled Tata.ev for its electric vehicle (EV) range.
The move comes almost ten months after the company demerged its Commercial Vehicles business into Tata Motors Ltd. (formerly TML Commercial Vehicles Limited) and consolidated the passenger vehicles business within the parent entity.
Popular models under TMPV include Sierra, Harrier, Safari, Nexon, Punch, Altroz, Tiago, CURVV and Tigor.
As customers describe the automaker's vehicles simply as a 'Tata car', the new identity "formally embraces a name that customers have already made their own while providing a clear and unified expression of the Company's complete passenger vehicle portfolio."
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. reported total sales of 63,760 units in July 2026 across domestic and international markets, marking a 59% year-on-year growth compared with 40,175 units sold in July 2025. The company’s domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 62,611 units in July 2026, up 58% from 39,521 units in the same month last year.
