SCoR officers and medical team assist pregnant woman deliver on train at Vijayawada railway station

Officers of the South Coast Railway (SCoR) and an emergency medical response team assisted a pregnant woman in delivering a baby onboard a train at Vijayawada railway station.
According to information, the woman developed labour pains while travelling in B-6 coach of the SMVT Bengaluru-Agartala Express on August 25.
Travelling Ticket Examiner Manish Kumar Jatav alerted the emergency medical resources team and the staff of the first aid centre at Andhra Hospital in Vijayawada station.
When the train reached the station, the commercial control staff, emergency medical resources personnel, and the deputy superintendent of the Vijayawada station made the necessary arrangements and assisted the woman in delivering her baby in the coach.
The woman delivered a baby boy and both the mother and the baby were safe. Later, the SCoR officers shifted the mother and the baby to Government General Hospital, Vijayawada, for better post-delivery care, the railway officers said in a release on Thursday (August 27, 2026).
