Arguably, India’s biggest reality entertainment franchise, Bigg Boss is all set for a glorious comeback in a manner never before seen, as multiple versions of the show are gearing up for a simultaneous launch in a fortnight.

Alongside the Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss Hindi Season 20, Mohanlal’s Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8, the Vijay Sethupathi-hosted Bigg Boss Tamil Season 10, and Sudeepa’s Bigg Boss Kannada Season 13 will premiere on Sunday, September 6. Although an official announcement is awaited, the Nagarjuna-hosted BB Telugu Season 10 is also likely to debut on the same date.

270 billion viewing minutes across South India

According to figures shared by JioStar, the reality television show is a sensation in the South, with all four editions collectively reaching more than 300 million viewers and clocking a cumulative 270 billion viewing minutes. The makers claim that one in five Indians tune in to Bigg Boss South, highlighting its massive success.

While the grand finale of the recently concluded edition of Nagarjuna’s BB Telugu recorded a 19.6 Television Rating (TVR), the makers of the show also claimed that Bigg Boss Malayalam reaches 84 per cent of Kerala’s population, which they noted is higher than Australia’s population.

Record ratings and unprecedented audience engagement

The Vijay Sethupathi-hosted BB Tamil Season 9 clocked 1.5 billion viewing minutes on its debut day, October 5, 2025.

According to the data, the 24/7 live on JioHotstar collectively registered over 11 billion viewing minutes, while about 1.4 million unique users interacted through the live chat and Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions.

Beyond watching and commenting on social media, the audience was also deeply invested in the shows and wanted to be part of how they unfolded. Across South editions, over 2.2 billion votes have been cast thus far.

Five regional editions to launch simultaneously

Back in July this year, JioStar had announced it would launch multiple editions of Bigg Boss, including Hindi, simultaneously in a first-of-its-kind move, and scheduled the premieres for September. Now, the makers of the respective editions have officially announced the launch dates, with the Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada versions also set to debut on Sunday, September 6, along with the original Bigg Boss Hindi.
