Poets from different faiths participated in the fifth annual Naatiya Mushaira at Islam Gymkhana, Mumbai, on Saturday. Organised under the Prophet For All Campaign, the event featured poetry praising Prophet Muhammad and promoted messages of love, peace and national unity. Organisers said the participation reflected India’s shared cultural traditions and Ganga-Jamuni heritage.

Mumbai: Poets from different faiths came together at Islam Gymkhana on Saturday to recite Naatiya poetry in praise of Prophet Muhammad, hoping to send a message of love, peace, religious harmony and national unity.
The fifth annual Naatiya Mushaira, organised under the Prophet For All Campaign, aimed to highlight the universal message of humanity and India’s shared cultural traditions.
Programme begins with Hamd and Naat
The programme opened with Arshiya Siddiqui presenting Hamd and Naat, followed by a melodious Naat by Anushka Nikam. Naats are poems in praise of Islam's prophet and his message.

Farid Ahmed Khan, president of Urdu Caravan, programme in-charge and a member of the Prophet For All Committee, said the annual Mushaira was eagerly awaited by lovers of the Prophet. He said participation by poets from Mumbai and different cities of Maharashtra added to the event’s importance.
“The presentation of devotional poetry by poets belonging to different faiths in praise of Prophet Muhammad is a shining example of India’s Ganga-Jamuni culture and shared traditions,” Khan said.
Campaign spreads message of tolerance
Advocate Yusuf Abrahani, president of Islam Gymkhana and chief patron of the campaign, said members of its core committee had visited several cities and districts in Maharashtra to spread the message of love, peace, tolerance and humanity.
The first session was conducted by poet Irfan Jafri and presided over by Dr Sagar Tripathi, an author of several collections of Naatiya poetry. The second session was conducted by Madhav B Noor and presided over by Sarfaraz Arzoo, chairman of the All India Khilafat Committee.
Among the poets from different faiths who presented Naatiya poetry were Dr Lakshman Sharma, Wahid Anant Nandurkar, Khalish Hukam Chand Kothari, Dr Ganesh Gaikwad, Dr Sonal Chaudhary, Ravi Kedia, Sandeep Yadav and Hira Lal Hira.
Local poets, including Ubaid Azam Azmi, Dr Qamar Siddiqui, Prof Jameel Kamil, Dr Zakir Khan Zakir, Ejaz Hindi, Syeda Tabassum Nadkar and Mohsin Sahil, also participated.
Students and teachers from Maharashtra College, Akbar Peerbhoy College and Burhani College attended the event.
Organisers said the Mushaira was not merely a literary gathering but an effort to promote religious harmony, mutual respect, peace, national unity and India’s shared cultural traditions.
