Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s fried chicken dinner with Samsung, Hyundai chiefs sent Korean chicken stocks soaring, Marvell shares jumped 32% after his $1 trillion call
    Synopsis

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has a history of comments and high-profile outings moving markets. His 2025 fried chicken dinner with Samsung and Hyundai chiefs sent South Korean chicken stocks soaring, while Marvell Technology shares jumped 32% in June after Huang called it the “next $1 trillion company.” Now, his latest dinner joke comes as Nvidia reports strong Q2 results and a better-than-expected outlook.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang joked that his dinner plans can move stocks after the chipmaker reported better-than-expected fiscal second-quarter results and issued a stronger-than-expected revenue outlook. Nvidia shares jumped sharply after the results, adding to the growing attention around Huang’s ability to move markets with even a few words.

The comment came as Nvidia once again delivered a major earnings beat. The company reported $96.22 billion in second-quarter revenue, well above Wall Street expectations of about $92 billion. Adjusted earnings came in at $2.22 per share, also ahead of analysts’ estimates.

Jensen Huang says his dinner plans can move stocks

During Nvidia’s earnings call, a Goldman Sachs analyst asked Huang about the biggest supply constraints affecting the company’s growth. Huang responded with a joke about the market attention surrounding his personal meetings and dinner outings.

“Last year, one of the funniest things to do is just to go figure out where I go for dinner and who I have dinner with, and their stock price doubled the next day.” He was referring to the market reaction that has followed some of his high-profile meetings.

Huang then returned to the serious issue of Nvidia’s supply chain, saying the company’s “entire supply chain is challenged” and that it is “running flat out” to bring additional capacity online.

Huang’s comments have moved markets before

The dinner joke was not entirely without precedent. In October 2025, Huang was photographed having dinner in Seoul with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun. The outing went viral, while shares of local fried chicken companies surged amid the attention.

Huang’s comments about individual companies have also triggered significant market reactions. In June, Marvell Technology shares climbed as much as 32% in a single session after Huang described the company as the “next $1 trillion company.”

His comments on quantum computing have similarly affected the sector. Quantum stocks fell after Huang said practical quantum computing could still be decades away, before later rallying when he described the technology as reaching an “inflection point.”

Nvidia stock jumps after earnings and forecast

Nvidia’s latest results gave investors another reason to focus on the company’s AI-driven growth. Revenue more than doubled from a year earlier to $96.22 billion, while data center revenue reached $89 billion, highlighting the enormous demand for Nvidia’s AI infrastructure.

The company also gave investors a strong outlook. Nvidia expects third-quarter revenue of about $108 billion, above analyst expectations of roughly $103.5 billion, according to Benzinga.

Shares initially moved lower after the earnings release but reversed course. Nvidia stock climbed more than 5% in after-hours trading, while other market reports put the gain around 4% as investors absorbed the company's forecast.

Nvidia’s AI demand remains the bigger story

Behind the jokes, Nvidia’s latest results underline the scale of the continuing AI boom. Huang said: “AI has reached its inflection point. It’s doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue.”

“And demand is accelerating,” he added. With Nvidia forecasting another huge quarter and signaling continued strength in AI demand, investors are watching whether the company can keep delivering results that exceed already-high expectations.
