Happy birthday, Dua Lipa! Check fitness and diet rules the singer swears by to keep her energy high and maintain those iconic abs. And yes, it involves fasting.

To power through sold-out shows and high-octane choreography, and maintain those sculpted abs, Grammy winner Dua Lipa leans on discipline, smart eating and a shapeshifting workout routine. As the singer celebrates her 31st birthday on August 22, 2026, her approach to health offers a window into how she keeps her mind and body in peak condition. Dua Lipa's on nutrition and fasting

Maintaining stamina amidst tight touring schedules requires an intentional approach to food. Rather than restrictive dieting, Dua Lipa focuses on whole foods and structured timing to optimise digestion and skin health.

Speaking on her At Your Service podcast in 2022, as reported by BANG Showbiz, Dua detailed her strict evening cut-off window: "I don’t eat after 6 pm. I fast. I feel like with my skin, it really helps… when I eat really late, my body does not really work through, and it takes too long to process food, and it does not prepare anything else in my body." Her daily wellness baseline centres on hydration and essential micronutrients. "I drink a lot of water for my skin. I take vitamins, I take Omega 3. I fast. I feel like, with my skin, it helps," she noted during the same episode.

When time permits, home-cooked meals offer both mental relaxation and metabolic fueling, as she shared with Refinery29 in 2021: “I enjoy cooking and being with my favourite people… with all the running around I do for work, it’s nice to come home, slow down and connect with the food that nourishes my body and life.” Also read | Doctor explains why you should not eat after 8 PM: 'If you're eating late at night, you're spiking blood sugar'

    High-intensity mornings and accountability

When packed travel itineraries limit gym access, Dua turns to high-efficiency movement early in the day. In a 2018 interview with Viva magazine, she highlighted her preference for quick, morning sessions: "I love doing something that’s really fast and quick, like a 15-minute HIIT session, which I can do before I start my day… planks are good, but definitely not my favourite."

Even on the road, she stays consistent — joining trainer Ella Jenkin's 8:30 am Sculpt By Ella Zoom class and turning to best friend Bunny for motivation when needed, she told Refinery29 in 2021.

    Training variety and stress relief

To prevent physical plateaus and keep her routine engaging across different tour stops, Dua samples local fitness offerings wherever she goes. "I love mixing up lots of different training, finding different workouts in whatever city I'm in, whether it's yoga, Pilates, boxing or spinning," she told Marie Claire in 2018. Among these disciplines, combat sports serve both physical and psychological purposes for Dua. As reported by Cosmopolitan in 2025, quoting her interview to Beauty Crew, boxing remains her go-to tool for managing the pressures of international fame: "I like doing it for fitness, and I like doing it just to kind of clear my mind. I really enjoy it. I like that it's definitely a full-body workout. Since starting boxing, I've probably been in the best shape ever. It's also a great stress reliever."

By combining structured intermittent fasting, early-morning HIIT, and dynamic multimodal conditioning, Dua Lipa has built a sustainable lifestyle that supports both her on-stage performance and her long-term well-being off it.
