Nashik: Nashik has immense potential to emerge as a new centre of industrial development in Maharashtra beyond Mumbai and Pune, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said. He said the city has the capacity to attract large-scale industrial investment while developing into a hub for manufacturing and defence industries.
Nashik’s industrial potential
During his visit to Nashik, Chavan interacted with office-bearers of several prominent industrial associations to understand the issues, challenges and future opportunities facing the city’s industrial sector. Detailed discussions were held on several key issues concerning the development of Nashik’s industrial ecosystem.
The discussions covered the inclusion of Nashik in the second phase of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, construction of a modern exhibition and convention centre in Nashik on the lines of Pragati Maidan in Delhi, making the Indiabulls land at Sinnar available to entrepreneurs, providing advanced equipment for the Food and Drugs Department laboratory, and expediting the Nashik-Pune high-speed railway project.

Chavan said large-scale infrastructure development was essential for Nashik’s industrial growth and assured the industry representatives that he would pursue these issues at the government level.
Infrastructure and investment push
Nashik’s favourable climate, abundant water availability, excellent road, rail and air connectivity, and its geographically central location in relation to Mumbai, Pune, Vidarbha, Marathwada and Konkan are among its major strengths. If these advantages are effectively utilised, they can provide a major boost to Nashik’s industrial development in the future, Chavan said.
NIMA President Ashish Nahar pointed out that the unity among entrepreneurs has helped attract significant investment to Nashik and that the collective efforts of industrial associations are receiving a positive response. AIMA President Rajendra Pansare said that with the necessary infrastructure, favourable government decisions and an investment-friendly environment, Nashik could rapidly emerge as one of the country’s important industrial centres.
