    Actor Michael Wright, best known for his performances in The Five Heartbeats, The Wanderers, V, The Principal and Streamers, has died at 70. His co-producer for the series Transitions, Hanibal Chancellor, paid tribute in a heartfelt statement shared on both their Instagram feeds on Friday.

    “Your journey on this earth may have come to an end, but your work, your talent, and your memory will continue to live on,” Chancellor wrote in the collaborative post with Michael Wright.

    An Instagram collaboration post is a shared feed post or Reel co-authored by two or more accounts. It appears on all the collaborators' accounts, which is why the post, though not made by Wright, showed up on his feed after his passing.

    Chancellor celebrated Wright’s talent and described him as a performer whose presence left a lasting impact. He wrote that Wright’s greatest legacy was not only the characters he portrayed but also the memories he created and the people he inspired.

    Fans and colleagues remember Michael Wright's legacy

    Following news of his death Chancellor’s tribute reflected the sentiment shared by many admirers. He wrote, “Michael Wright was an extraordinary actor, but to those who knew and loved him, he was so much more than the roles he played.”

    The post was accompanied with a video montage of various scenes of Wright as Lloyd black shooting with Chancellor. The video also included snippets of rolls from his role as Eddie King Jr.

    Chancellor further stated, “He had a presence you could feel. A strength that came through in his work. And a spirit that left an impression.”

    He described Wright as someone whose talent went beyond the screen and whose influence would continue through the people he touched.

    “His performances touched so many people, but his greatest legacy is not simply the characters he brought to life. It is the memories he leaves behind-the people he inspired, the lives he touched, and the moments that will never be forgotten,” Chancellor wrote.

    Fans also took to social media to celebrate Wright’s legacy. One fan under Chancellor's post wrote, “DANG IT MANE THAT'S CRAZY NOT ONE OF MY FAVOURITE ACTORS THAT GUY IS A LEGEND MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES GOES OUT TO HIS FAMILY. REST IN PEACE MICHAEL WRIGHT.”

    Another fan remembered their encounter with Wright and wrote, “Had the absolute pleasure of meeting him many years ago after he'd film The 5 Heartbeats. He was so laid back and cool. May the legend rest in Eternal peace.”

    Michael Wright’s career and legacy

    Michael Wright built a career spanning several decades in film and television. He gained widespread recognition for portraying Eddie King Jr. in Robert Townsend’s 1991 musical drama The Five Heartbeats.

    His acting career however, began in 1979 in the movie The Wanderers. Wright went on to star in the Emmy-winning miniseries V (1984), and the Academy Award-nominated war drama Streamers (1983). He later starred alongside James Belushi in The Principal (1987) and appeared in numerous television productions throughout his career.

    Wright is known for his intense screen presence and has earned praise for portraying emotionally complex characters in his works.

    His wife, Susan Wright wrote in an emotional tribute to her husband saying Michael’s influence extended beyond Hollywood. “His talent, presence, and contributions to film and television will live on,” she wrote, “but to those of us who loved him personally, he was so much more than the roles the world knew him for.”

    To end her tribute to Wright, Susan wrote, “Michael, your work will live forever, but your love will live even longer in the hearts of those who knew you best.”
