Jharkhand BJP leaders meet Amit Shah in New Delhi

A Jharkhand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation, led by State President Aditya Sahu and Opposition leader Babulal Marandi, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday (August 19, 2026), to discuss various issues, including the student protest.
Mr. Marandi also posted a message on X saying, “A detailed discussion was held on various important issues related to Jharkhand, and guidance along with necessary directions were received from Home Minister Amit Shah Ji.”
Apart from Mr. Sahu and Mr. Marandi, the delegation also included former Chief Ministers Arjun Munda, Raghubar Das, and Champai Soren, as well as former State presidents Ravindra Rai and Deepak Prakash, and Organisation General Secretary Karmveer Singh.
Sources in the party said that all the BJP leaders told Mr. Shah that they strongly supported the student agitation in Jharkhand, not only on the streets but also on the floor of the house, by raising the issue of alleged irregularities.
“We told Amit Shah ji that, due to our continuous effort by putting pressure on the Hemant Soren government, the government agreed to cancel all those examinations which were under suspicion. We also informed him that the State leadership will continue to raise public-related issues, especially those students who are at the receiving end,” said one of the leaders who met Mr. Shah.
Meanwhile, Mr. Marandi wrote to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, demanding an impartial CBI inquiry into the irregularities surrounding cancelled and controversial examinations, including the JPSC and JSSC-CGL.
He stated that merely cancelling the exams is not the solution.
“It is essential to expose people behind the scams and identify the individuals involved in alleged extortion and irregularities, followed by strict action against the guilty. Accountability must be ensured for jeopardising the future of lakhs of youths of Jharkhand,” Mr. Marandi said.
