Anonymous group Cyberleek has continued releasing new GTA 6 footage almost every day, prompting some fans to question whether the leaks could somehow be connected to Rockstar Games.

The speculation has gained traction across Reddit and other social media platforms, where users have developed theories suggesting Cyberleek could be part of an elaborate promotional campaign surrounding the highly anticipated game.

Reddit user floats Rockstar marketing theory

One Reddit user posted a theory on the r/GTA subreddit claiming the leaks could eventually be revealed as part of a larger Rockstar marketing strategy.

The post, titled “Theory: the whole GTA 6 leek was part of Rockstar’s marketing campaign,” argued that the ongoing leaks could be setting up a future reveal.

"The more I think about it, the more suspicious it feels… Imagine the Netflix documentary drops after GTA 6 releases and reveals the “leak” was planned all along… We all spent years analyzing every frame, arguing over leaked footage and basically doing Rockstar’s marketing for free… The “leakers” were getting paid the whole time… At this point I’m just wondering how much crypto they’ve already sent them," the user wrote in the post.

Reddit community pushes back on theory

However, the theory received plenty of pushback from other members of the community. Several commenters dismissed the idea outright, while others questioned why Rockstar would involve cryptocurrency if the leaks were genuinely part of a planned campaign.

One user wrote, "Why do you people always expect something to be some conspiracy to fool you".

Another fan simply called the theory, "this theory is so stupid."

A third commenter pointed out that similar speculation has surfaced repeatedly, writing, "Omg this has been posted a million times and you’re all wrong every time."

Some users remained less dismissive but still questioned the theory. One sarcastic response read, "Wow you must be the first person who has this theory. I definitely haven't seen this anywhere else!"

Another user raised a different concern, asking, "Why would they even bother putting crypto stuff if it was a marketing stunt?"

    Leaked footage shows limited action

Cyberleek’s leaked material also appears to suggest that the group may have access to a playable version of GTA 6. If that is the case, the group could potentially capture a wide range of footage from whatever content is available in the build.

Interestingly, much of the leaked gameplay released so far has not provided the kind of explosive material many fans would expect from GTA.

The player frequently moves through the world without stopping to investigate potentially notable locations, while the footage has largely avoided major action sequences.
