Rajeev Shrivastava, General Manager, Central Railway hoisted the National flag on the occasion of 80th Independence Day at the Central Railway headquarters, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai on 15.8.2026.

The General Manager reviewed the RPF Parade and addressed the gathering.

Conveying his warmest greetings to all railway personnel, their families and esteemed users, the General Manager in his Independence Day address shared his thoughts with pride, on the significant contributions of Central Railway towards the progress and development of our Nation.

Acknowledging the efforts of the employees, the General Manager said “Thanks to the tireless efforts of our railway employees over the past year, Central Railway has achieved numerous milestones. Working day and night in remote areas and under challenging conditions, our railway staff keep our system safe and make invaluable contributions to operations. Giving highest priority to Customer services, the General Manager said that punctuality remains a key challenge and ensuring safety and security under all circumstances is the foremost objective of Central Railway.

Indian Railway has a crucial role in the Nation’s progress and the remarkable progress achieved in railway electrification over the past decade has proved invaluable in helping the Nation overcome the challenges that rose from the recent disruptions in Oil imports.

The General Manager in his address also congratulated Shankar Shivswami Edle, Head Constable, RPF Zonal Cyber Cell, Central Railway, for having received the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) from the President of India, on the occasion of 80th Independence Day at New Delhi.

On the occasion the General Manager expressed gratitude to the Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (CRWWO) for their various welfare activities, thanked the employees for their dedication and commitment towards their duties, and also thanked the media for effectively highlighting and presenting the achievements of Central Railway.

Speaking to media persons, the General Manager announced upgradation of 22 suburban services on Main Line’s CSMT-Karjat/Khopoli Section from 12 Coach to 15 Coach trains taking the total 15 Coach services on Central Railway to 54. He also added that 11 Mail and Passenger trains have also been upgraded to the status of regular trains, which will benefit passengers.

The event featured a presentation by the CR RPF Dog squad including welcoming the General Manager, Fire hurdle jump, Indian Flag identification, etc.

The event also featured a cultural presentation by artistes of Central Railway Cultural Academy. It is noteworthy that rains did not dampen the spirit of the performers and both presentations continued despite heavy rains.

Balloons in Tricolour were also released by the General Manager symbolising the Spirit of Freedom.

The Independence Day celebrations were webcasted live on YouTube channel of Central Railway.

Smt. Snigdha Srivastava President, CRWWO, with executive members of CRWWO, Prateek Goswami, Additional General Manager, Principal Heads of Department, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai Division and other officials were also present on the occasion.
