The Dr. YSR & Dr. KVP Foundation will confer the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Award-2026, carrying a cash prize of ₹25 lakh, on the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) in recognition of its contribution to agriculture, food security, sustainable development and rural livelihoods.

The award will be presented at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi on September 2. MSSRF chairperson Soumya Swaminathan will receive the award on behalf of the foundation, according to a press release.

The award seeks to honour the legacy of former chief minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR) and his emphasis on the welfare of farmers and the poor. The MSSRF carries forward the legacy of its founder, the late M.S. Swaminathan, whose scientific leadership was instrumental in India’s Green Revolution and the country’s transition from food scarcity to self-reliance.

The foundation had presented its inaugural award in 2025 to Subhash Palekar Krushi (SPK) for the pioneering work of Subhash Palekar in sustainable and natural farming.

The foundation had also felicitated the Sree Padmavathi Venkateswara Foundation for its work in natural farming and research at the event. Dr. Chadalavada Sudha and Dr. Chadalavada Nageswara Rao received the felicitation on its behalf.

In 2026, the foundation established a ₹21 lakh scholarship corpus with Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Hyderabad, to support and recognise its best-performing student every year.

The foundation has also extended assistance to individuals and supported various social causes as part of its public welfare initiatives. Its trustees include former Rajya Sabha member K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, Telangana State Planning Board vice-chairman G. Chinna Reddy and Congress Working Committee member N. Raghuveera Reddy.
