Special 26-style raid goes wrong: Delhi businessman's wife blocks fake CBI officers at gate for 1.5 hours; CCTV footage becomes police evidence

Synopsis

Fake CBI officers attempted to raid a Delhi businessman's home in Rohini but were turned away after his wife refused to open the gate and neighbours demanded to see a search warrant. The group, around eight to ten men in CBI uniforms carrying fake identity cards, left saying the warrant was in their car and never returned. Delhi police are now investigating.

A group of eight to ten men posing as CBI officers attempted to raid a businessman's residence in Delhi's Rohini, but were turned away after his wife refused to open the gate and neighbours on the spot demanded to see a search warrant. The men left saying the warrant was in their car and never returned, reports .



The incident, which bore resemblance to the 2013 Bollywood film Special 26, which depicted a gang impersonating CBI officers to loot homes, was captured on CCTV cameras installed near the residence. Delhi police are examining the footage and investigating the matter.



Fake CBI Officers at the Door

According to a complaint filed with police, the group arrived at the residence claiming they had come to conduct a CBI search. They attempted to enter the house without showing any authorisation or establishing their identities. When the businessman's wife refused to open the gate, the group allegedly pressured and threatened her to comply.



The men remained outside the house for around one and a half hours.




The complaint states the suspected fake officers were wearing clothes bearing the CBI insignia and were carrying identity cards identifying themselves as CBI officials.

Wife Refuses Entry, Neighbours Demand Warrant

Neighbours who gathered at the spot began questioning the group about their search warrant and other authorisation. When asked to produce a copy of the notice, the men said the document was in their car, left on that pretext, and did not return.



The family subsequently called the police helpline 112. A police team reached the residence following the call.



Fake CBI WhatsApp Notice



After the group left, a notice purportedly bearing the name and signature of the CBI Director was sent to the complainant's father on WhatsApp. The message was subsequently deleted, but the family had already taken a screenshot and submitted it to police along with their complaint.



The family has alleged the notice was fabricated and was intended to make the group's actions appear to be part of an official CBI operation.



Fake CBI Raid CCTV Evidence



The entire incident was recorded on CCTV cameras installed near the residence. Police are currently examining the footage as part of their investigation. No arrests have been reported so far.
