BJP reshuffle: Ram Madhav, Smriti Irani, Biplab Deb in new national team; Piyush Goyal named treasurer

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday (August 17, 2026) announced a new team under its chief Nitin Nabin, naming 13 vice-presidents including including Ram Madhav, Lok Sabha MP D. Purandeshwari and former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat.
Former Union Minister Bharti Pawar, Manpreet Singh Badal, and Tariq Mansoor were also named as vice-presidents
Former Union Minister Smriti Irani, former Tripura CM Biplab Deb, Sunil Bansal, Vinod Tawde, Satish Poonia were among the eight new national general secretaries announced, as the party chose to retain B.L. Santhosh as national general secretary (organisation).
Additionally, the party named Shivprakash and Saudan Singh as national joint general secretaries (organisation)
Meanwhile, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia were appointed national general secretaries. The saffron party appointed Union Minister Piyush Goyal as the treasurer. Former AAP leader Sandeep Pathak has been named among 16 national secretaries, apart from Anil Antony, and Rohan Gupta.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated the newly-appointed national office bearers of the BJP and said the team brings together organisational experience, energy and grassroots connect.
“Congratulations to the newly appointed national office bearers of the BJP and those who have been given various responsibilities in the party. This newly appointed team brings together organisational experience, energy and grassroots connect,” Mr. Modi said on X.
The Prime Minister said he was confident the new team will give their best in strengthening the BJP and focusing on public service. “My best wishes to them,” he said.
