The murder of a Hindu family in Bangladesh's Rangpur has left the nation in shock. As the investigation into the case continues, several chilling details have emerged.

As per officials, the two men detained for the murder of the family of four, consumed drugs before and after the killings.

Furthermore, officials have further added that the killers stayed in the house after the murder, where they showered, ate food and then proceeded to make the crime look like a robbery.

Based on a report by The Daily Star, the victims have been identified as – Retired Rangpur Zilla School teacher Ganapati Chakraborty, 65; his wife, Pritilata Chakraborty, 50; their daughter, Agami Chakraborty Prarthi, 23; and their son, Priyam Chakraborty, 12, were found murdered in their home.

• Killers consumed "yaba": The two men detained for the murder reported consumed a drug called "yaba" on the rooftop of the house, before carrying out the killings. As per officials, after killing the family of four, the killers continued to consume more drugs. (Yaba, which means crazy medicine in Thai, is a potent, illicit synthetic drug composed of a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine.)
• Showered after murder, ate food: After committing the murders, the killers reportedly stayed inside the house till Friday morning. During this time, officials suspect the killers showered in the bathroom and ate dates from the dining table in the house and food from the refrigerator.
• Staged a robbery: Police have added that the killers also ransacked the house to make the murders look like a "robbery gone wrong." Cops added that the suspects also stole gold ornaments from the house and hid them behind a nearby temple.
• Faces of victims burnt with chemicals: As per a report by The Daily Star, Sumit Chowdhury, acting superintendent of police of Rangpur CID, stated that the faces of all four bodies were burnt with chemicals.

Suspects detained, family alleges gang involvement

Police arrested the two suspects – Mughdho Das, 21, and his cousin Siddhartha Das, 19 for the murder. As per cops, the duo has also confessed to their involvement in the case.

However, the family suspects that a larger gag was involved in the murder.

“I don’t know the two who were arrested. I suspect a bigger gang to be behind the killings. If the police conduct a proper investigation, the mystery will be revealed. We want justice," said the brother of the victim to Daily Star.

Cops have suspected the murder to have taken place between midnight of Thursday and Friday. The bodies were recovered on Friday night from their locked house.
