Two undertrials, arrested in cases lodged under the POCSO Act, have allegedly escaped from the Central Jail in Srinagar, officials said on Sunday.

Farman Khan, a resident of Rajasthan, and Mukhtar Ahmad Gujjar, a resident of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir, have escaped from the jail, they said.

While Khan was facing charges under sections 3 and 4 (penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in a case registered at the Lar police station in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, Gujjar was also facing the same charges in a case lodged at Srinagar’s Soura police station.
