At least six people, including Delhi Aam Aadmi Party MLA Anil Jha and Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Abhay Patil, were injured after a hatchback crossed a road divider and crashed into an SUV near the PWD headquarters on Vikas Marg near ITO in central Delhi on Sunday night, police said.
The two MLAs were travelling in the SUV when the crash occurred. All those injured sustained minor injuries and were taken to Lok Nayak Hospital, police said. They are in stable condition.
How the crash happened
Deputy commissioner of police (central) Rohit Ranbir Singh said the IP Estate police station received a call about the road crash at around 9.30pm.
A police team reached the spot and found two damaged vehicles, both bearing Delhi registration numbers.
“As per the preliminary inquiry, the hatchback was being driven by a 32-year-old resident of Delhi’s Arya Nagar, who was travelling towards ITO from Laxmi Nagar along with his wife and two minor children,” said Singh.
Near the PWD office, the car hit the road divider and then crossed the railing. It entered the opposite carriageway and collided with the SUV travelling from ITO towards Laxmi Nagar.
“All people sustained minor injuries and were shifted to Lok Nayak Hospital for treatment. They are in stable condition,” the DCP added.

The SUV was carrying Anil Jha, the sitting AAP MLA from Kirari Vidhan Sabha, and Abhay Patil, a BJP MLA from Karnataka.
Police said all six people involved in the crash suffered minor injuries and were shifted to Lok Nayak Hospital for treatment. Their condition was reported to be stable.
Fire Brigade called to clear road
