Mumbai :- The Maharashtra Government has established a Scrutiny Committee to review proposals submitted during the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) period for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections 2024. This step follows guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on 15 October 2024.
The committee will be chaired by the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra and includes senior officials from the relevant administrative departments. Its role is to ensure that any proposals, deemed necessary by the administrative departments during the MCC period, are in line with ECI regulations before being forwarded to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and ultimately the ECI for approval.
Proposals will be submitted online through the CVigil system, ensuring transparency and adherence to election guidelines. Departments are instructed to avoid direct submissions to the ECI and ensure timely evaluations.
This move aims to maintain compliance with the MCC and support a fair electoral process. The detailed government resolution is available on the Maharashtra Government’s website.
