Mira-Bhayandar:- In a recent development, the scheduled rally of Mr. T. Raja Singh, the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Telangana, in Mira-Bhayandar City faced a setback as local authorities denied permission for the event. Mr. Singh’s rally, known for its polarizing rhetoric, drew criticism from various quarters, including the Hindu Task Force and the All Hindu Society Coordinator, Mr. Naresh Ramu Nile. They voiced their objections, alleging that Mr. Singh’s speeches often incited religious animosity and discord. Consequently, they approached the High Court, urging intervention to prevent the rally.

Following the court’s directive, the police were compelled to reassess the situation. However, despite the court’s ruling to grant permission for the rally, concerns remained regarding the potential for inflammatory speeches. To address these concerns, the police proposed recording Mr. Singh’s address during the rally to ensure accountability for any divisive language.

In a subsequent development, the Miraroad Police Station registered a case against Mr. Singh under various sections of the law, including Section 153 (A), Section 295 (A), and Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code. These sections deal with promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, and disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant.

In response to the denial of permission and the subsequent legal action, Mr. Gulam Nabi Farooqui, the District President of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar), expressed dissatisfaction. He alleged bias on the part of the authorities and accused them of curtailing democratic rights. Mr. Farooqui asserted that the denial of permission was politically motivated and aimed at stifling dissenting voices.

The case has now taken a legal turn, with Mr. Singh’s supporters and opposition leaders gearing up for a legal battle. As the matter unfolds, it underscores the delicate balance between freedom of expression and the need to maintain communal harmony in a diverse society like India.
