Vasai-Virar :– Under the “Cleanliness is Service” campaign, Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation paid tribute to cleanliness ambassadors and the families of fallen heroes who served the nation. This initiative, part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, took place from September 15 to October 2, 2023, during the “Swachhata Pandharwada” drive within Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation.
On October 2, 2023, marking the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation headquarters and all ward offices hosted a ceremony to honor cleanliness ambassadors and families of martyred soldiers who dedicated their lives to the nation.
The Municipal Corporation headquarters in Virar witnessed the presence of dignitaries, including Commissioner Ajinkya Bagade, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Charushila Pandit, Additional Commissioner Sukhdev Darveshi, and Shashikant Patil, as well as Chief Health Inspector Eknath Bhagat, Senior Health Inspector Nilesh Jadhav, and other staff members. A total of 23 cleanliness ambassadors were felicitated with certificates and floral bouquets during the event.
Major Prasad Mahadik, residing at Central Park, Virar (E), who posthumously received the Veergati for his service to the nation along the India-China border in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh on December 30, 2017, was also honored. His father, Shri. Mahadik, was also recognized with a certificate and a floral tribute during this occasion.
In addition, Mr. Sanjay Patil, an international rangoli artist, had showcased exceptional artwork as part of the “Cleanliness is Service” campaign and received appreciation during the event. The program was gracefully orchestrated by Deputy Commissioner Sukhdev Darveshi.
Furthermore, the campaign extended its reach to the ward office level, where cleanliness ambassadors and the families of martyred soldiers were honored. Awareness drives for cleanliness were also conducted at various locations, engaging local representatives, political leaders, citizens, and municipal officials.
This initiative reflects the commitment of Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation towards cleanliness and pays homage to those who have served the nation with dedication and valor.
