Mira Bhayandar :- In a significant crackdown on unauthorized construction activities within its jurisdiction, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) took swift action on October 9, 2023. The operation, led by MBMC Commissioner and Administrator Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar (IAS), targeted various areas where illegal building work, unapproved CCTV installations, ferries, garages, unlicensed businesses on sidewalks, unauthorized hotels/bars, illegal hoardings, and slums were found.
Under the directive of Commissioner Katkar, these unauthorized structures and activities were identified across different zones and sectors within Mira Bhayandar. Notable areas included Bhayandar East, near the Indralok Police Station, the Kandivali area in Navghar, serving notices to gas godowns, unauthorized warehouse usage, and 95 roadside shanties. The demolition and enforcement actions were executed with the support of heavy machinery and a dedicated team of officials, including Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Maruti Gayakwad.
The operation also witnessed the presence of Narendra Chavan, Chief of the Encroachment Department, Assistant Commissioner Jitendra Kamble, Junior Engineer Yogesh Bhoir, Chanchal Thakre, Feriwala Pathak Pramukh Rakesh Tribhuvan, Clerk Vasant Pendhare, Police Officer Dhamma Lokhare from the Encroachment Department, and police personnel from the Maharashtra Security Force.
The MBMC’s relentless efforts to curb unauthorized construction and encroachments reflect its commitment to maintaining the integrity and aesthetics of the region. The civic body continues to monitor and take action against those who violate building regulations and engage in illegal activities.
Commissioner Katkar urged residents to abide by the law and obtain proper permits for construction and business activities. He emphasized the importance of adhering to municipal guidelines to ensure the safety and welfare of the community.
