Palghar :- On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, which falls on October 2nd, 2023, a significant cleanliness drive has been initiated across Palghar district. This drive, named the “Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan,” began on September 15th and will continue until October 2nd, 2023. To promote this noble cause, the Prime Minister of India has called upon citizens to dedicate one hour of their time to participate in cleanliness efforts on October 1st, 2023.
In line with this initiative, every Gram Panchayat (village council) within Palghar district has organized cleanliness campaigns. At the district level, a massive program took place along the shores of Shirgaon Beach from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Prominent figures in attendance at the district-level event included Prakash Nikam, the District Council President; Govind Bodke, the District Magistrate; Bhanudas Palve, the Chief Executive Officer; Balasaheb Patil, the Police Superintendent; Manisha Nimkar, the President of the Social Welfare Committee; Shaila Kolhekar, President of the Palghar Panchayat Committee; Pravin Bhavsar, Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Women and Child Welfare; Atul Paraske, Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Water and Sanitation Department; and Narendra Revandkar, Group Development Officer for Palghar Panchayat Committee.
The event witnessed participation from various sections of society, including government officials, police personnel, school students, National Service Scheme volunteers, teachers, healthcare workers, Anganwadi workers, self-help groups, and many more.
This collective effort underscores the commitment of Palghar district’s residents and authorities to promote cleanliness and hygiene, echoing the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, whose birthday is celebrated with reverence and a strong message of service to the community.
