Navi Mumbai :- The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s encroachment department has initiated stringent measures against unauthorized constructions and encroachments in its jurisdiction. Under the guidance of the Municipal Commissioner, Dr. Rahul Gethe, a crackdown has begun in the Belapur division.
In the Belapur division, several businesses were found to be using marginal spaces for their commercial operations. Additionally, temporary monsoon sheds had sprung up in front of city buildings. Notices were issued under Section 53(1) and 55 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, for these violations.
However, some businesses did not respond to these notices. As a result, the Belapur division office has organized a drive to remove these unauthorized structures, including the monsoon sheds. Violators of these orders may face a hefty fine of up to INR 25 lakhs.
Dr. Rahul Gethe, the Additional Municipal Commissioner for Encroachments, and his team, including department officials Mr. Shashikant Tandle, Mr. Sanjay Tayde, Mr. Sagar More, and Mr. Prabodhan Mawade, are overseeing this operation. Administrative officer Mr. Ramesh Rathod, Director Mr. Jayanta Namade, and Junior Engineer Mr. Swapnil Taramale are also providing valuable support. The police are assisting in the removal of unauthorized structures.
In the coming days, the Municipal Corporation will intensify its efforts across all eight divisions to tackle encroachments. This drive aims to ensure that unauthorized structures are swiftly dealt with and the city’s regulations are upheld.
